Well basically my story is the same as many other RAFFER's. It began on August 17,1999. That's when I bought my PC and went online at home. I had been online for years at works but time didn't allow for much play know what I mean? I had already purchased a copy of CFS but my work PC didn't run it very well at all. When I installed it on my home PC I was amazed at the graphics and options one had. It took a little time to get familiar with it but I have a lot of experience in real life flight had my ticket for a couple of years after high school but an auto accident prevented me from flying for years and I just didn't have the funds to keep it up anyway. But the thrill of flight never left me it has always been inside me a part of me, I live for it. My first love is jets always have been from day one for me. But the old props do have a special place in me as well. The Discovery Wings channel is like a godsend to a flight buff like myself. Before the evolution of PC's I had sim experience on a wire frame flight sim on a green CRT screen. Don't laugh that was 21 years ago in Aerospace Technology I / II / III class but it was the cats meow then. We also had desktop IFR trainers no video screen just the business end of a Cessna cockpit. Man they taught me a lot. I guess that's where the Sim bug bit me first in that class that was taught by the best fighter pilot I have ever known or met. Colonel Walter (Jack) Swaney a veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Many, many stories from him as one could imagine, a true stick and rudder man. If he were still alive I know he would be a member of our group. But getting back to the topic once I did get the feel of the sim I was very disturbed at the unorganized attitudes on the zone not to mention loyalty. That's when I started to look for a group to join. After visiting a few sites and talking to some zonies I realized there was really only one choice the RAF662 CFSG the most professional group of guys I could find and the most friendliest. I have to thank RAF_Lecher for turning me on to the right people in the RAF I knew I had made the right decision as he didn't know me and I had just picked his name out of the zone to ask about the group he was very cordial and helpful. I joined this fine group on 11/16/99 as a Cdt in bravo and after about a year I was promoted to SL of Bravo my fondest memories. No matter where life takes me I will always think of this group as the best bunch of guys I have ever had the pleasure to know.
